Waiting for a pick request

Event sequence

  1. pos.product_selected
  2. pick.requested
  3. location.resolved
  4. device.light_on
  5. pick.confirmed
  6. pos.sale_completed
  7. inventory.synced

The light activates when a pick is requested — not after the sale closes. A completed sale updates stock; it does not initiate picking.

Orchestration

Never hardcode product → LED.

Location resolution

  1. 1Pick request
  2. 2Product
  3. 3Eligible locations
  4. 4Available inventory
  5. 5Lot / FEFO rules
  6. 6Operator zone
  7. 7Location priority
  8. 8Device address

A single product can have a front-of-store location, a backroom location and multiple lots — RowBotic resolves the correct one before lighting a bin.

Location binding

Scan-only. No typed coordinates.

Bind

  1. Scan product
  2. Scan location
  3. Bind

Move

  1. Scan product
  2. Scan new location
  3. Move

Every location gets a machine-readable code, e.g. LOC:AR-FARM01-G03-M02-R04-C07. No typed coordinates — bind and move are scan-only, because location drift is the fastest way to lose staff trust.

Confirmation

Lighting a location doesn't prove the correct product was picked.

MVP confirmation combines a light with a product scan or explicit confirm, and records elapsed time — giving objective pilot metrics instead of assumed accuracy.

FAQ

Common questions

How does Pick-to-Light work?
When a product is requested, RowBotic resolves its physical location, illuminates the row and then the exact bin, and the employee confirms the pick by scan or button before the light clears.
Does it replace my current shelving?
No. RowBotic Grid Light retrofits onto conventional pharmacy shelving — no structural installation or dedicated space required.
What if two employees pick at the same time?
The MVP allows one active task per shelf module and queues overlapping requests while we measure real collision rates before building a more complex allocation model.

Pilot program

Run a measured pilot in your pharmacy.

We instrument the pilot from day one — baseline search times, pick times and location accuracy — so results are measured, not assumed. No ERP replacement, no structural installation required.
